Rams' Maxx Crosby Trade Pursuit Detailed in New NFL Rumors Ahead of Myles Garrett's Debut

The Los Angeles Rams considered a different NFL sack artist before their blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero .

Pelissero reported Wednesday that Los Angeles "called and kept tabs on Maxx Crosby."

It's unclear how seriously the Rams pursued Crosby and what led them to pivot in another direction.

Upgrading the pass rush was clearly a priority despite the team tying for seventh in sacks and having one player (Byron Young) hit double figures in 2025.

In addition, Los Angeles' interest in Crosby far predated this past offseason, which saw his exit from the Las Vegas Raiders fall apart after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade.

The MMQB's Albert Breer reported Rams general manager Les Snead tried to orchestrate separate deals for Crosby, Garrett and Brian Burns ahead of the 2022 trade deadline.

Things wound up working out pretty well for L.A. in the end.

As good as Crosby is, Garrett is a better player and doesn't have the same long-term questions over his durability. Garrett is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and set the single-season record for sacks with 23. He has also missed two combined games over the last five years.

Crosby, on the other hand, missed out on an opportunity that would've been an upgrade competitively than staying in Vegas. Heading into Week 1, the Raiders are 26th in Bleacher Report's po wer rankings . The Rams are all the way up in first after having added Aaron Donald to further bolster their defense.
