The idea of the Philadelphia Eagles having a fire sale at the trade deadline is starting to gain momentum. Philly was already falling apart before Week 6, but the Jalen Hurts blood clot fiasco could be the final nail in the team's coffin. Now the Eagles have a depleted offensive line, no starting quarterback, and an offense that is stuck in the mud. A midseason comeback just does not look realistic for this team.
If the Eagles do have a fire sale, aging veterans like Saquon Barkley could be tempting trade targets for other teams.
"Barkley and Baun fit this category. Both players are in their age-29 seasons," The Athletic's Zach Berman wrote on Tuesday. "They presumably have fewer prime years ahead of them than behind them and would fetch valuable NFL Draft resources. But if they're slated to help the Eagles compete in 2027, Roseman would be less inclined to listen."

Barkley is widely expected to return to practice on Thursday , giving him a chance to play on Monday Night Football in Week 7. This is great news, as Barkley's return could help other teams feel comfortable putting in a trade call for him.
Should Philly actually consider moving Saquon at the deadline? And if so, which teams make the most sense to trade him to?
Here three of the best trade destinations for Barkley if the Eagles do end up having a fire sale at the deadline.
Would the Texans immediately become AFC South favorites by adding Saquon Barkley?
Houston as a landing spot just makes too much sense.
The David Montgomery trade has not worked out for the Texans. Woody Marks has been solid, but he is more of a rotational running back than a true three-down starter.
Houston invested a lot in their offensive line this offseason to improve the running game. That unit does deserve some blame for how the offense has struggled so far this season. However, they're good enough to open up running lanes wide enough for Barkley to create some magic.
The Texans just proved they're willing to improve their offense by bringing in Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Cardinals. Adding Barkley on top of the team's existing stars could make Houston's offense truly dangerous.
One big concern is whether or not Houston has the stomach to make another big in-season trade this year. If the Eagles demand a premium for Saquon, then the Texans may not have the capital to get a trade done.
Still, this is the most obvious landing spot on paper strictly in terms of need.
The Vikings could supercharge their offense by adding a star like Saquon
Kevin O'Connell loves to run the football in Minnesota. Imagine how good his offense would look with Barkley pounding the rock.
Minnesota has mostly relied on an aging Aaron Jones throughout much of the 2026 season. Jordan Mason is set to return in Week 7 , which should help matters. But the Vikings may want to consider going all in on this season after surprisingly starting the season a perfect 5-0.
One big factor here is how incredible the Vikings have looked on defense this year. It is not farfetched to imagine Minnesota becoming a Super Bowl contender if they can add one final piece to their offense.
If the Eagles will accept a third-round pick for Barkley (the one gained in the Jonathan Greenard trade? ), then the Vikings need to seriously consider pulling the trigger.
Saquon Barkley would give the Broncos a legitimate workhorse running back
This may be the most exciting option of the three.
During the Sean Payton era in Denver, the offense has always felt like they are one superstar away from becoming unstoppable. Some may have thought the Jaylen Waddle trade was that move, but he has yet to impress while on the Broncos.
If the Broncos did acquire Barkley, it could completely open up the offense.
Denver already has a decent stable of running backs with J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey sharing carries. But imagine how good those back could be as situational options behind a superstar like Barkley. Honestly, that feels more appropriate for both players instead of being a starting tandem.
Barkley's ability to thrive in the receiving game, and rip off big runs on the ground, make him a threat on every play. It is easy to imagine Payton coming up with some creative ways to get Barkley the ball. He could also use Barkley as a decoy at times to create mismatches for other players on the offense.
Denver is projected to have extra picks in the 2027 NFL Draft between the Devaughn Vele trade and a potential comp pick for John Franklin-Myers. Perhaps they use some of that extra draft capital to bring in a star who could change the entire offense.
The Broncos will need all the help they can get to get back to the AFC Championship this year. Adding Barkley could help them get one step further and finally make it back to the Super Bowl.
