Colin Cowherd had some insight to provide into the Texas Longhorns' situation between Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning midway through the 2026 season.
Texas got off to a promising start, winning its first four games and rising to No. 1 of the AP Top 25. They have since lost two consecutive games against Oklahoma and Florida in collapsing fashion, free falling down to 19th in the latest rankings.
Cowherd did an episode of The Herd on Thursday, giving his stance into the situation. He believes the Manning family name is placing pressure on Sarkisian to not mess up Arch's trajectory as a prospective professional player in the NFL.

"There is pressure to not screw up Arch Manning … I honestly think [Sark] is trying to protect his NFL career," Cowherd said.
"Arch should be running. It should be Tebow-esque. Texas should be running the ball 60 to 65 percent of the time. A total college offense leaning into Arch's size and athletic ability, but if you do that, that's not the NFL. Are you screwing with his NFL career? And I think Sark almost subliminally is not running the offense that is best for Arch. He's building a pro-style offense, and that's not really playing to his strengths."
What lies ahead for Steve Sarkisian, Texas
Texas still has a chance to get its campaign back on track to be in the CFP mix. However, another loss would their hopes for the tournament and put an end to the dynamic between Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning.
Texas has a 4-2 overall record this season, going 1-2 in its SEC contests so far. They sit at 12th place in the conference standings, being above the Texas A&M Aggies and the South Carolina Gamecocks while trailing the Oklahoma Sooners and the Auburn Tigers.
The No. 19 Longhorns will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels in Week 8 as kickoff commences on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
