Following a Week 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, someone inside the AT&T Stadium tunnel can be heard saying "embarrassing" as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott walked by.
Jones addressed the moment during his usual appearance on 105.3 The FAN in Dallas.
"It doesn't impact me at all. The driver in question was not an employee," he said (via The Athletic's Jon Machota ). "Fans can express themselves, and should express themselves. Whether he was our employee or not, he was a fan, it sounds like. So, I'm for our fans expressing themselves."
The optics certainly aren't great when a stadium staffer — third-party contractor or not — makes such a visible show of their dissatisfaction in front of a player. But Jones has been pretty consistent when it comes to outside assessments of the team's performance.
He doesn't go out of his way to stifle dissent. The Cowboys' official site routinely provides clear-eyed analysis, even if that means calling out individual players or mistakes.
Veterans with as much tenure as Prescott know the lay of the land by this point. Playing for America's Team heightens both the praise and criticism.
When it comes to the latter, Jones will let the critics have their say.
