The Dallas Cowboys reportedly may not be finished on the trade front, even after their recent acquisition of cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

According to Jonathan Jones of The Athletic, a source said the Cowboys are going to "turn over every stone in an attempt to get this thing fixed," which suggests additional trades are possible.

Following Thursday night's surprising 24-16 home loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys sit third in the NFC East with a 2-3 record.

Despite the Bucs starting undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, Dallas' defense allowed 419 total yards, including 241 on the ground with running back Bucky Irving and his 165 rushing yards leading the way.

Defense has been an issue for the Cowboys for multiple seasons, and there are no immediate signs of the problem being solved.

Through five games, the Cowboys rank 31st in the NFL in total defense and 26th in scoring defense, allowing 27.2 points per game.

That is undoubtedly a big reason why owner and general manager Jerry Jones got aggressive and acquired Porter from the Pittsburgh Steelers last week in exchange for a 2028 second-round draft pick and 2027 sixth-round pick.

Porter suited up for Dallas' 34-30 win over the Houston Texans last week, but he only played 25 defensive snaps while getting acclimated to his new surroundings.

On Thursday, Porter did not play due to an illness, and the Cowboys' defense turned in another poor performance.

It remains to be seen how the defense looks with Porter playing a full allotment of snaps, but Dallas seemingly has needs at linebacker and in the secondary regardless.

The Cowboys have traded for major defensive contributors each of the past two seasons in the form of defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and now Porter, but with progress still not being made, the organization may still have to do even more.
