Arizona Cardinals “finalizing details” to trade Marvin Harrison Jr., per reports
Could Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills be working to finalize a deal that pairs Marvin Harrison Jr. with Josh Allen?
The drama surrounding Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. continues. After rampant speculation about the potential for him to be traded just as the 2026 NFL season began, ESPN senior NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport have both reported that the Cardinals' front office is, indeed, finalizing a deal to trade Harrison to a new team.
A tweet by @UnderdogNFL states that "Cardinals and Texans have engaged in 'deep' negotiations for Marvin Harrison Jr. in exchange for 'significant draft capital," while adding that "Cardinals informed Texans they are still listening to potential offers from other teams with hopes of receiving 1st-round draft choice." That report goes on to state that "Several teams have reached out with interest in acquiring Harrison, although at least one team feels Harrison is worth a Day 2 pick."
That's essentially it for the latest news on Harrison, which won't end speculation about his next stop. There are no concrete reports linking the Buffalo Bills and Harrison at this juncture. But it's reasonable to believe that the Bills could be among the mix of teams looking to negotiate a trade for Harrison.
However, there is a bit of heat around him heading to the Houston Texans, with both Schefter and Rapoport saying that talks have happened . That's likely to be true of many teams, including the Indianapolis Colts. Those sources would neither "confirm or deny at this time" about any trade talk, however, the Texans are in need of help at wide receiver. Additionally, if Arizona pulls off a trade with Houston, it would reunite Harrison with his college quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
Harrison has become an afterthought in the Cardinals' moribund offense, but his mostly uninspired play and inability to make routine catches or create separation have an equal role in the failed relationship. Will a reset prove fruitful — and where is he headed?
Could Buffalo hold the key to his next opportunity? The Bills have several injury concerns in the wide receivers room, namely to DJ Moore (AC-joint sprain), but Joshua Palmer (shoulder) also popped up on the injury report this week and will miss Week 5, per Sal Capaccio . Also of note is the fact that Keon Coleman has dealt with an ankle injury (though he's managed to play through it).
Considering that alone, One Bills Drive has almost certainly called about Harrison — that's what president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane has told us he does with any intriguing player. If Harrison has struggled to succeed in Arizona, is the risk worth it weight in any potential trade? Many would say yes simply because he's the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison.
Harrison entered the 2024 NFL Draft as a can't-miss prospect with generational talent. The results have proven less than stunning, but many wonder if he just needs a generational talent at quarterback to get him better footballs. Quarterback Josh Allen fits the bill.
What role would Harrison play in Buffalo is perhaps the better question. Adding Harrison probably means parting ways with someone currently on the roster, such as Palmer or Coleman. That carries risk as both Palmer and Coleman have built chemistry within the system, and both have been more productive in 2026.
It's unlikely the Cardinals receive a significant and early first-round pick for Harrison. His stock has never been lower, and NFL execs aren't in the habit of digging deep into their resources for what amounts to a reclamation project at this point in time.
