Welcome to NFL kickoff week, as we await the much-anticipated season opener between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday — a rematch of Super Bowl LX.This time around, Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson will be sidelined. The second-year back has been ruled out with an ankle injury. He hasn't practiced since Aug. 24. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett will make his debut with the franchise after his blockbuster trade from the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason. He's missed practice time in training camp and through the preseason with knee swelling but should be good to go. Fans will have to wait at least another week to see the recently unretired Aaron Donald make his return, however, after he didn't travel with the team to Melbourne.Gonzalez wasn't the only player who benefited from a massive payday this week. After it appeared as though Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield would have to play the 2026 campaign on the final year of his contract, he received a last-minute extension, days before the Bucs take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
