Week 6 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Smart Matchup Plays, Sleepers and More
After five weeks of NFL action, the fantasy football landscape looks and feels dramatically different than it did during the summer. Injuries have had a lot to do with that, as we've seen stars like Caleb Williams, Jaxson Dart, De'Von Achane, and Justin Jefferson miss time with injuries.
Bye weeks are also now in play, and several stars will be out of action in Week 6. The Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings will be off.
The good news is that a few fantasy breakouts have been found on the waiver wire in 2026, and smart matchups have allowed many managers to make do with second-tier stars.
Here, you'll find some early start/sit recommendations for Week 6, along with some sleepers to target on the waiver wire.
Start: Cam Skattebo, RB, New York Giants
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has been a serviceable option in point-per-reception (PPR) leagues, even if he's been largely workload-dependent. He yielded at least 9.5 fantasy points in his first three outings of 2026, though he's been less productive over the last two weeks.
Skattebo only saw 13 carries and two receptions on Sunday, and he finished with a modest 7.1 fantasy points.
The good news is that Skattebo should have a chance to rebound this week against the visiting New Orleans Saints. New Orleans' defense has struggled in a big way this season (31st in points allowed), and New York should look to batter the Saints with their ground game.
On Sunday, Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones left the game for a stretch with a knee injury but still tallied 113 rushing yards and a touchdown. No team has surrendered more fantasy points to opposing RBs than New Orleans.
Sit: Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns may have defied expectations with their 3-2 start to the season, but running back Quinshon Judkins has been a fantasy disaster. He has struggled to find running room behind a bad offensive line, and he must now be considered a touchdown-dependent, low-end flex play.
Judkins has topped nine fantasy points three times this season, but he's only reached double digits once. Now, there's no guarantee that he'll provide any points in Week 6.
After Sunday's loss to the New York Jets, Judkins was spotted in a walking boot.
While Judkins can't be dropped yet, he can be avoided in Week 6. Even if he plays, he'll face a Baltimore Ravens defense that ranks 12th in rushing yards allowed.
Start: Mike Evans, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Mike Evans, who is in his first season with the San Francisco 49ers, wasn't on many preseason fantasy receiver lists. If you haven't been paying attention, though, Evans has started to regain the Pro Bowl form he had for most of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evans had his first 100-yard game as a 49er in Week 5, and he's rapidly approaching must-start status. The 33-year-old has reached double-digit fantasy points in four of his five outings this season.
This week, Evans will have a favorable matchup with the Washington Commanders. While Washington has shown some legitimate defensive improvements through the early season, its pass defense remains a liability.
The Commanders rank 29th in passing yards allowed, and they look like a smart matchup for Evans' managers.
Sit: Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey has long been a dependable PPR play when healthy. That's largely remained true in 2026, even as the Chargers' offense has stumbled under the guidance of new coordinator Mike McDaniel.
McConkey reached double-digit fantasy points in two of his first three outings this season.
The problem is that McConkey isn't healthy right now. He aggravated a foot injury in Week 4 and, despite being active, didn't see the field in Week 5. Even if McConkey is healthy enough to play in Week 6, it's impossible to trust him.
The Chargers will visit the Kansas City Chiefs, who are coming out of the bye and who have been extremely unfriendly to opposing receivers. No team has surrendered fewer fantasy points to the position.
Efton Chism III, WR, New England Patriots
Brenton Strange, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
