Ravens QB Lamar Jackson reportedly expected to return in Week 8 after missing 3 games with a high ankle sprain
Jackson has been out since suffering the injury in Week 4 against the Titans.
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to get quarterback Lamar Jackson back for Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports .
Jackson has missed the Ravens' past three games after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. The quarterback returned to practice last week in a limited capacity before being ruled out for the Ravens' Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
After returning to the field this week as a full practice participant, Jackson is poised to make his return on Sunday — barring a setback.
"The more you're able to do and respond from and feel from certainly raises your optimism," said Ravens head coach Jesse Minter when asked if Jackson was trending toward playing in Week 8.
Jackson explained last week that the biggest factor in whether he would be able to play was not so much the level of swelling but how much of the pain he could deal with.
Jackson's importance to the roster is on display every time he takes the field. According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley , the Ravens have scored 14 touchdowns in the 14 quarters the quarterback has played this season. In the 14 quarters without Jackson, Baltimore has only found the end zone five times.
"He's the leader of this offense, so anytime he's out there, it's always great," said running back Derrick Henry . "I know he wants to be out there with us and to put us in the best position to win. He wants the guys to play great as well. So, I'll be excited whenever he's back out there, and I look forward to it."
Tyler Huntley has filled in for Jackson over the past three weeks, leading the Ravens to a 1-2 record.
