Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed frustration following his team's 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
Speaking to reporters after falling short in a thrilling home game, McVay said, "This stinks. It's gonna hurt, but we can't let this team beat us twice. We're gonna have to regroup and reset ourselves. It's been a while since I've been this pissed after a game too."
Report Card Grades for Bills' in Dramatic Win ✏️
After falling behind 34-27 on a touchdown run by Bills running back James Cook with 1:39 left in regulation, the Rams offense moved quickly down the field, culminating in a game-tying touchdown run by Kyren Williams with five seconds remaining.
Cook lost a fumble on the first possession of overtime, meaning L.A. needed only a field goal to win the game. However, kicker Harrison Mevis' potential game-winning, 48-yard field goal was blocked by Greg Rousseau.
Buffalo then got into field goal range and won it with a 45-yard field goal from Tyler Bass.
After the game McVay said the Rams' extra point and field goal unit was "not even close to good enough" on Monday night and "cost us the game."
McVay added that he was going to "evaluate everything," which suggests some changes could be in store for the Rams' special teams unit.
With Monday's loss, the Rams fell to a surprising 2-3 on the season despite entering the campaign as the clear Super Bowl favorite.
Meanwhile, Buffalo improved to 4-1 with a resilient victory, and quarterback Josh Allen won the first overtime game of his career on his eighth try, counting playoffs.
The Rams will undoubtedly hope that welcoming in the 1-4 Arizona Cardinals next Sunday will help them get back on track with a victory following Monday's disappointing defeat.
