Brian Schottenheimer has struggled to put the pieces together since taking over as the Dallas Cowboys' head coach, but quarterback Dak Prescott doesn't think it's fair to put all the blame on him.

After a loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Prescott defended Schottenheimer.

"It's all of us. Don't put the blame on one person," he told reporters . "I think that's weak. I think that's cowardly."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also defended Schottenheimer and called out the team for not doing their part.

"I will say that a lot of people let Brian down today," Jones said. "So, for whatever criticism we want to have of Brian, we can all get in line. And that was a total — to use a cliché — that was a total team effort out there for us. We have to be, for our fans, we have to be better than that when we've got our hands on a win and drop the ball."

Dallas led by 10 points halfway through the fourth quarter, but Arizona cut it to a six-point game with just over a minute to go. The Cardinals then marched down the field and scored a touchdown to tie it, leaving just six seconds on the clock.

Arizona missed what would have been the game-winning extra point, but it didn't matter as it managed to get the win in overtime.

The Cowboys dropped to 3-5 with the loss, and it is looking increasingly likely that Schottenheimer's second year at the helm is going to end in the regular season rather than the playoffs.
