The Houston Texans have been active in the trade market, trading for wide receiver Kayshon Boutte before the start of the season and trading for receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the mid-season deadline.

There is still time before the trade deadline and Texans general manager Nick Caserio said he has had "conversations" about more trades, both internally grabbing someone or potentially shopping someone out.

"Every opportunity we'll look at it. If it makes sense, great. If not, so...we've had conversations. We've talked to most of the league here," Caserio said. "Teams have started to reach out here a little bit trying to figure out, like, 'What are you looking for? Where is the surplus? Where do you potentially have a need?' We'll always be open-minded. We're not going to eliminate anything. We'll listen, do what we feel makes the most sense. As it pertains to the offensive line, probably been a little bit up and down. At times it has been okay. At times it can be better. I think we have talked about this internally at different points."

There are numerous players across the NFL who could be available before the deadline. While intra-division trades are rare, Houston's AFC South rival, the Indianapolis Colts , appear to be sellers given their season and could be willing to trade running back Jonathan Taylor. If the Texans could acquire a running back like Taylor with their current offense, they could be a real contender.

Multiple players on defense are also expected to be available for trades, although the Texans do not lack defensive talent. Their problem so far this season has been execution. The defense this year is made up of most of the same players as last year; Houston's defense was one of the best in the NFL in 2025.

"We just got to do a better job of staying at task, staying finished. Again, we have a number of players at that position. Eleven offensive linemen on the roster. Probably as much as any. Some guys that have been injured, some guys that are coming back. We'll look at it and try to figure out and figure out if it's the best five. If not, let's try to do something else."
