NFL analyst predicts Rams will accomplish something not done since 1996

The Los Angeles Rams are looking to leave no doubt, making blockbuster roster moves this offseason in their pursuit of a title.

Those moves are the reason CBS Sports' Douglas Clawson stated in his NFL bold predictions that the Rams will finish the season with the number one scoring offense and defense, a feat not witnessed this century.

"The Rams will become the third team since 1970 to have the NFL's No. 1 scoring offense and defense (the 1972 Dolphins and 1996 Packers )," wrote Clawson. "The Rams defense was terrible down the stretch last year (25th in defensive EPA in their last nine games) so they added Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. They will be the top unit in the NFL this year, thanks to those additions and now Aaron Donald's comeback."

Already expanding their league-leading passing offense with revitalized personnel packages and concepts, the belief is that with new talent, defensive coordinator Chris Shula will be able to show off his exotic designs, something we have only gotten glimpses of in the past due to depth issues.

The Rams have struggled to play complementary football since winning Super Bowl LVI, with their offense having to make up for defensive mistakes, while the defense had to hold down the fort as the offense struggled to score touchdowns in the red zone. The offense also struggled to turn turnovers into touchdowns last season. Perhaps new star power will not just be the remedy, but what takes the franchise back to a title.
