Kingsley Enagbare was exactly what the Jets needed him to be in Week 1

The New York Jets got to debut their new-look defense in Week 1.

It was a dominant performance, having defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-10 while holding their offense under 200 yards. Veteran defensive end Kingsley Enagbare was among the new Jets defenders who made a good first impression.

The Jets signed Enagbare to a one-year contract worth $9 million in free agency this past offseason. The former South Carolina standout was acquired to bring early-down toughness to the Jets' revamped defensive line . That's exactly what Enagbare did versus the Titans in Week 1.

Pro Football Focus credited Enagbare with registering five pressures and one sack. Titans offensive tackles Dan Moore Jr. and JC Latham had no answer for his balanced skill set as a pass rusher and run stopper. Enagbare's PFF pass-rushing score was a stellar 70.5.

Enagbare played the second-most snaps (33) among all Jets defensive ends in Week 1. Rookie David Bailey played a position-high 35 snaps . The Jets basically used Enagbare as an early-down base end, with Will McDonald IV rotating in to play 25 snaps.

The Jets had a quality plan for Enagbare in Week 1. It was a very positive debut for the veteran defender. Hopefully Enagbare continues providing the Jets with high-level play.
