‘I felt somewhat disrespected’ – Beşiktaş’ Amir Murillo on relationship with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille

Roberto De Zerbi will not have left an indelible mark on his time at Olympique de Marseille . Or at least, perhaps not in the way he would have hoped. This goes for his supporters, as well as his players.

Just a few hours before reuniting with his former team-mates for the opening match of the Europa League group stage, Beşiktaş JK defender Amir Murillo (30), who joined from OM last February, used his appearance at a press conference to settle scores with the Italian manager.

"Everyone saw that I'd had a problem with the manager," recalled the Panamanian left-back. "It had nothing to do with the club, nor with the team. I think it was simply something personal on the manager's part and that, in a way, I felt it was a lack of respect. They practically forced me to leave the club, and that's how I ended up at Beşiktaş."

Having left Marseille barely a week later, De Zerbi went on to take up the managerial post at Tottenham Hotspur, a role he still holds today, with a record of four wins, four draws and five defeats since his arrival.
