Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers keep piling up wins, but the big man's 3-point shot has not come along for the ride. After another rough night from deep against the Detroit Pistons, the Sixers star joked that he might be done with the shot altogether.

Embiid went 0-of-3 from beyond the arc in Wednesday's 112-106 win at Little Caesars Arena. That dropped him to a brutal 3-of-26 from 3-point range on the season, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim, which works out to just 11.5%.

Asked about his struggles from deep, Embiid had a simple solution .

"Tonight might've been the last three I ever take," Embiid said.

It is hard to take that seriously coming from a player who has made the 3-pointer a real part of his game. Embiid shot a respectable 33.3% from deep last season, and the shot has long been a weapon that pulls opposing centers away from the paint. Head coach Nick Nurse has even pushed for more volume in the past , saying he wanted Embiid to take somewhere "in the six to nine range" of threes per game.

The good news for Philadelphia is that Embiid has still found other ways to make an impact. Against Detroit, he finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds on 8-of-18 shooting, and he went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. He also did a lot of his damage on the offensive glass, scoring nine second-chance points.

That kind of production is exactly what the Sixers need from him. Embiid has played 39 or fewer games in each of the past three seasons, and he showed up to Media Day noticeably slimmer as he tries to stay on the floor for his first season alongside LeBron James.

So far, the new-look Sixers are rolling. Jaylen Brown led the way against the Pistons with a season-high 30 points, while James added 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists . The win avenged Philadelphia's only loss of the season and improved the team to 8-1, good for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Embiid and the Sixers will look to keep it going when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. Whether he lets one fly from deep in that game remains to be seen.
