Nick Sirianni has admitted he misses Jalen Hurts as the Philadelphia Eagles continue to deal with the quarterback's absence following his blood clot diagnosis.

Hurts was placed on injured reserve after the Eagles' trip to London and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The franchise quarterback has not been seen publicly since the diagnosis.

Philadelphia have turned to Tanner McKee in his absence, but former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb recently offered an encouraging update on Hurts' condition.

Nick Sirianni says he misses Jalen Hurts as Philadelphia Eagles await recovery

McNabb revealed that he had spoken to Hurts recently and suggested the quarterback was in a positive frame of mind.

"I had an opportunity to talk to him a little bit," McNabb said on Eagles Collective . "He's doing well. He's in good spirits."

Sirianni was subsequently asked about Hurts before the Eagles' practice session, with the head coach confirming that he remains in regular contact with his quarterback.

"Of course I've seen him, and I have no new update on anything. But of course, I've talked to him, and in constant communication with him," Sirianni told reporters.

The Eagles head coach then made an emotional admission about the impact of Hurts' absence.

"I know he's resting and recovering. I miss him like crazy, you know, and so yeah, but nothing new on that front. But yeah, I know he's resting and recovering, and you know we're all still praying for him and hoping for a speedy recovery."

There is currently no new timeline for Hurts' return, with his recovery understandably taking priority over any potential comeback.

Philadelphia's struggles have also highlighted how difficult it is to replace their franchise quarterback. The Eagles were 2-3 when Hurts went down and have since lost three more games.

They now face the New York Giants as underdogs in Week 9, with McKee continuing to lead the offence.

For Sirianni and the Eagles, the immediate focus remains on navigating the season without Hurts while hoping their quarterback makes a full recovery.
