NHL releases ‘Prime Video’ TV schedule for 2026-2027 season

The NHL has officially released the Prime Video schedule for the 2026-27 season, giving Canadian hockey fans a look at the 27 games that will be available exclusively on the streaming service as part of Wednesday Night Hockey. The schedule features some of the biggest teams and stars in the league, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers among the clubs receiving the most exposure.

The schedule begins September 30 with the New York Islanders visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs, a matchup that could feature the first meeting between 2025 No. 1 pick Matthew Schaefer and 2026 No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna.

Maple Leafs, Canadiens and Oilers headline the schedule

The Maple Leafs will appear on Prime Video six times, while the Canadiens lead all Canadian teams with seven appearances. The Edmonton Oilers will appear five times, followed by the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators with four appearances apiece. The Vancouver Canucks are scheduled for two Prime Video games.

There are plenty of notable matchups throughout the schedule.

The Canadiens will visit Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on October 14, while Brady Tkachuk's return to Ottawa with the Florida Panthers is scheduled for October 21. One week later, the Battle of Alberta between the Oilers and Flames will be featured on Prime Video.

The Maple Leafs also have several marquee games, including matchups against the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins, as well as their annual St. Patrick's Day game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Prime Video's NHL presence continues to grow

The 27-game schedule is part of a much larger agreement between Prime Video and Rogers. The companies agreed to a 12-year deal that makes Prime Video the exclusive Canadian home of Wednesday Night Hockey through the 2037-38 season.

Prime Video will also exclusively stream two first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series and one second-round series each year in Canada. The regular-season games and playoff series will be available in both English and French to Canadian Prime subscribers at no additional cost.

The opening matchup could be particularly intriguing, with McKenna expected to make Toronto's roster after being selected first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft. Schaefer, meanwhile, was the first overall pick in 2025 and won the Calder Trophy last season.

Prime Video is clearly becoming a major part of the NHL's Canadian broadcasting landscape, and the 2026-27 schedule gives fans plenty of reasons to tune in on Wednesday nights.
