Goncalo Inacio ready to wait for Milan in January

Milan are expected to try again for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio in January, claim reports, as Fikayo Tomori remains only a stopgap solution.

The Rossoneri have already revamped their squad this summer for new coach Ruben Amorim, but not all their targets were achieved.

They had been expected to bring in another defender, specifically setting their sights on Portugal international Goncalo Inacio.

Instead, the Rossoneri decided to bide their time, and bring Tomori back into the fold after he had been frozen out and told to find another club.

According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano and Tuttomercatoweb , this was purely a stopgap decision to wait until the January transfer window.

Milan are meanwhile laying the groundwork for another attempt when the market reopens for Italian clubs.

They have a definite advantage in this situation, because the agent representing Goncalo Inacio also works with coach Amorim.

That allows the talks to continue behind the scenes without raising too many eyebrows.
