Iowa football rises in latest USA TODAY Sports 1-138 Re-Rank
After a Cy-Hawk victory, the Hawkeyes rose in the latest 1-138 re-rank from USA Today.
After starting the 2026 season outside the top 25 of the initial USA TODAY Sports NCAA 1-138 Re-Rank, Iowa made its way up to 24th after a Week 1 victory.
Following a hard-fought win in the Cy-Hawk game on Saturday, the Hawkeyes saw their stock rise even higher this week.
A new edition of the USA TODAY Sports NCAA 1-138 Re-Rank dropped on Monday following a wild Week 2. Iowa rose one spot from last week, ending up at 23rd on this week's ranking. They're just ahead of Oklahoma , which dropped 15 spots after losing in Ann Arbor over the weekend.
It wasn't a pretty performance for Iowa on Saturday. They didn't play their best game and received quite the challenge from a hungry Iowa State team. Despite that, Kirk Ferentz's team battened down the hatches and found a way to win. That effort was enough to move up the rankings, even with an overall subpar performance offensively.
After a shocking comeback win on Saturday night, Texas is the new No. 1 team in the re-rank. Notre Dame , Georgia , Indiana, and Miami, in that order, round out the top five.
The Big Ten also sees Ohio State at No. 6, USC at No. 8, Penn State at No. 16, and Michigan at No. 18.
