Arizona Cardinals: Defensive Stud Lands on IR, Likely Out for 2026 Season

Arizona Cardinals stud cornerback Will Johnson has shown flashes throughout his young NFL career, but injuries have hindered him from reaching his full potential. Johnson missed five games in his rookie season due to an early-season groin injury and a back/hip injury in early November. The former second-round pick suffered an apparent neck injury during the fourth quarter of Week 2 after colliding with an opponent while attempting to make a tackle.

During Monday's press conference, Mike LaFleur told the media that Will Johnson suffered a severe neck injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season, but it is unclear whether he will need surgery, ESPN reported. According to Darren Urban of the team's website, the Cardinals officially placed Johnson on injured reserve. In addition, Arizona promoted Starling Thomas V from the practice squad to the active roster.
