Eli Manning gives nephew Arch advice following Holly Rowe controversy

Arch Manning 's status as both the Texas starting quarterback and a Manning puts a spotlight on him, and that got him onto some hot water recently.

Manning was at the center of a controversy involving Texas, Steve Sarkisian and Holly Rowe, as he admitted to laughing at an AI video of Sarkisian slapping Rowe after the Ohio State game. Manning later apologized for his actions, saying it was "insensitive."

"It's easy to say I didn't mean it, but I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people," Manning said. "I do not take that lightly and am deeply sorry for that."

Fortunately for Arch Manning, he has a few uncles he can turn to for advice on how to handle the media. In fact, Eli Manning told Front Office Sports how he would advise his nephew when dealing with the media as a starting quarterback in college and the NFL.

In a conversation with Front Office Sports, Eli Manning said that he tries to keep his advice with Arch more football-related. However, he did have a tip for the younger Manning about how to deal with the media as a star quarterback.

"He'll have to figure out that media on his own, and a lot of it is just kind of growing pains," he said. "You feel like they're your pal, you relax with them a little bit, you try to be funny, and then they can take it and run. So you just gotta be careful, you gotta find your moments where you can be funny, you can be relaxed, but there's certain things that you know you just gotta learn and deal with it. And I think he has learned, and he apologized and did the right steps in handling that."

Eli Manning spent his entire career in the New York spotlight dealing with a tough media environment, so he has plenty of experience knowing how to navigate that part of the job. Arch Manning, meanwhile, is still in just his second season as a starting quarterback and is still learning how to handle himself in front of the media.

Both Eli and Peyton Manning had their own controversies in college, but those occurred before the age of social media. Now, Arch has to be even more careful than his uncles to ensure he doesn't go viral for all the wrong reasons.
