Denver Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon Believes Two-Way Player Could Thrive With the Team This Upcoming Season

The Denver Nuggets signed Cam Whitmore to a two-way contract this summer to add to their depth, and the 22-year-old swingman is reportedly turning heads at the start of the team's training camp.

During the Denver Nuggets ' Media Day, head coach David Adelman and forward Aaron Gordon took turns giving Whitmore a shoutout. Adelman and Gordon believe Whitmore will do well within their system and could help them this upcoming season.

"Big Cam. Cam's a very good player. He's big, strong, he's talented, and he's going to be a good addition. I hope that he sticks," Gordon said of Whitmore via DNVR Nuggets.

"He could play for the Broncos. I swear to God," Adelman continued. "He's got to simplify himself. He's got to drive the ball to the basket. He's got to pick up defensively. His athletic profile is incredible. There's a reason why this guy was picked high… There's a long way to go, but today's a good day for Cam. If he stays consistent, I think good things can happen to him."

DeMar DeRozan said that this year will be different than his previous 17 NBA seasons. In his media availability, the newly minted Denver Nuggets forward explained his mindset heading into the 2026-27 campaign.

"My close friend Russ ( Westbrook ), I had Russ even before it was a thought, hit Joker and ask him his thoughts on a few things," DeRozan said about how he was convinced to go to Denver. "I did my part just to get a feel for it, but every conversation I had with everybody just made me feel even more comfortable."

"My mindset is to win. To go out there, compete, be myself, go out there, help this team whatever way possible to win. Compete. At the end of the day, I love basketball. It's still basketball at the end of the day. So, me going out there, do whatever I need to win. That's all I care about," he continued.
