Brandon Ingram will miss the start of the 2026-27 NBA season, as the Los Angeles Clippers forward continues to recover from surgery on his injured heel and Achilles.
During the Los Angeles Clippers ' Media Day on Monday, Ingram, who was part of the trade package that sent Kawhi Leonard back to the Toronto Raptors , opened up about his availability for training camp.
"My recovery has been going good. I feel good about the spot that I'm in right now, recovering from this surgery. I won't be participating in training camp much, but I'll be out there a little bit. I think it's a week-by-week thing, just trying to see when I'm going to be returning to play," Ingram told ClutchPoints' Tomer Azarly.
"I had been dealing with some pain throughout the year with the Raptors and especially coming down in crunch time. I didn't quite know what it was. Near the end of the season, we figured out what it was. We thought surgery was the best thing to do," he added.
Los Angeles Clippers News: Brandon Ingram 's injury extent explained by team president
Los Angeles Clippers interim president of basketball operations Trent Redden recently revealed that team doctors discovered and addressed Brandon Ingram's previously undisclosed Achilles injury while undergoing heel surgery last May.
"The surgery that you guys know about, he missed the end of the series with the Raptors. He had surgery on that right heel. We also found a partially torn Achilles during that time. Partially torn is much different than fully torn, so not as long. About six months less on the rehab schedule," Redden said.
"But it wasn't until we got our hands on him here that we started to see where he was at with his progression. He won't be ready for the start of the season, and we'll re-evaluate when we get there," he added. "It was part of the surgery. It was all-in-one surgery."
Ingram's injury is a bummer for the Los Angeles Clippers, as the two-time All-Star is fresh from his healthiest campaign since his rookie year. He averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 47.7 percent shooting from the field across 77 regular-season appearances in 2025-26.
