Veteran WR who was cut makes it back to Colts' practice squad

The Indianapolis Colts were able to bring veteran wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine back on the practice squad.

Westbrook-Ikhine was one of the Colts ' free agent signings earlier this offseason, but he was released during roster cutdowns. As a veteran with at least four accrued NFL seasons, Westbrook-Ikhine was not subject to waivers, and he immediately became a free agent.

The thought was that Westbrook-Ikhine would be in the mix for the WR3 snaps early on in training camp, but it became clear quickly that Laquon Treadwell had the upper hand. The late addition of Keenan Allen then squeezed Westbrook-Ikhine out of a roster spot.

This summer, Westbrook-Ikhine flashed some playmaking potential, particularly downfield, but in the preseason he had just two receptions, totaling 36 yards.

Westbrook-Ikhine went undrafted in 2020 and played his first five NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He spent last season with the Miami Dolphins .

For his career, Westbrook-Ikhine has appeared in 93 games , while making 42 starts. He's caught 137 passes at 13.6 yards per catch with 19 touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2024, when he totaled 497 receiving yards.
