Nathaniel Brown says Bayern Munich ‘deserved the win’ against FC Magdeburg
FC Bayern cruised past FC Magdeburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
Bayern Munich easily dispatched a hopeful FC Magdeburg side in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday, scoring five assisted goals plus a penalty kick. Michael Olise recorded a brace while Ismael Saibari, Alphonso Davies, Nathaniel Brown, and David Santos Daiber also added to the scoring spree. Interim manager Aaron Danks used an experienced squad around 18-year old Lennart Karl, who featured impressively as the central attacking midfielder.
After the match (via @iMiaSanMia ), Brown was quick to praise his team's effort and turn the focus to Der Klassiker .
"We want to win every game, regardless of the opponent," said Brown. "We wanted to get through this Pokal tie. We had a good performance and deserved the win. Now we're focusing on Saturday. We're also winning for [Vincent Kompany], of course. It's really good that he's back home now. He should get some rest, but I hope we'll see him again soon."
Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane warmed up throughout the match but went unused as a reserve thanks to the favorable scoreline. Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae were also allowed to rest in anticipation of the upcoming showdown with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
