Dave Allen reveals blockbuster fight talks against Anthony Joshua’s opponent that could happen early next year

Dave Allen is closing in on a potential showdown with former unified heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. The British heavyweight has revealed that the fight could take place in Sheffield early next year, with Allen welcoming the opportunity.The 34-year-old’s recent fight with Thomas Carty ended in bizarre fashion after the Irishman fell through the ropes and was unable to continue. Andy Ruiz just lost so he needs a comeback fight and I probably only have one big fight left. I am happy for the fight. If I get paid a fortune to fight the guy who once upon a time was THE guy, of course I am going to do it.”Ruiz became a major name in boxing in 2019 when he shocked Anthony Joshua in New York. The Mexican dropped Joshua four times before stopping him and becoming the first Mexican heavyweight world champion.However, Ruiz lost the rematch later that year. He has also struggled for consistency in recent years.Ruiz most recently suffered a defeat to Damian Knyba, adding another setback to his record. A comeback fight could now see him share the ring with Allen.Allen, meanwhile, has built a reputation as a popular heavyweight and a ticket-selling attraction.His professional record stands at 27 wins, nine defeats and two draws. His career has also included tough fights against Dillian Whyte, Luis Ortiz, Tony Yoka and David Price.Allen has previously spoken openly about his gambling addiction and the difficult period it caused in his life. He later turned his life around and has since focused on his family and other sources of income.Despite his record, Allen remains a popular figure with boxing fans. He also has more than 100,000 followers on TikTok.The British fighter believes that popularity gives him the chance to compete in big events.“People say I don’t deserve these fights but if people want to come and pay and watch me try to entertain them and win the fight then that’s up to them. I don’t need to box anymore, financially, which is nice. I am not the same guy anymore, I used to be a tough guy.
