Joe Cullen comments on the defensive line's growth ahead of Week 3

Kansas City Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen spoke recently with reporters. He commented on the defensive line's growth ahead of Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins .

"Well, I tell you, we're stout, we're physical, and we grind, and that's the thing that's been really good. The first run of the Denver game, Chris (Jones) knocked the guard back about three yards, and Felix (Anudike-Uzomah) came down the line of scrimmage; no gain. And one squirted out in that game," said Cullen. "Then last week, it's as good a back as there is. I wish we had a couple back, that one right before the half. But we really had to nail it down, all 11 it takes to stop the run. But the guys keep grinding, and they're getting better with the technique."

Players such as Felix Anudike-Uzomah and R Mason Thomas have stood out in early-season games. The defense had plenty of standout plays in the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos , but pressure dipped slightly in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts . Cullen will keep expectations high for his group on the road against a struggling Miami Dolphins team.
