‘He is the right man for the job’ – Scott Brown backs Martin O’Neill to turn Celtic around

Scott Brown has backed Martin O'Neill to turn Celtic's fortunes around despite the Hoops suffering a third successive defeat on Sunday.

Celtic were beaten 1-0 by Rangers at Parkhead, just seven days after suffering a 3-0 Premier Sports Cup defeat against their city rivals at Ibrox.

Ryan Naderi's first-half goal proved decisive as O'Neill's side struggled to create clear opportunities and registered just one effort on target.

The result rounded off a miserable week for Celtic, who were also beaten 3-1 by Ferencvaros in their Europa League opener on Thursday night.

Despite Celtic's concerning run of form, former captain Brown remains convinced O'Neill is the right man to lead the club forward.

"Rangers were the better team," Brown said on the BBC. "I can't fight Celtic's corner and say they were. They hit the target once and I think they've got a lot of improving to do.

"Can they get there I think they can, I think Martin O'Neill is the right man for the job, I just think they need to get Yang back, they need to get players back in, be happy, make sure they're scoring goals. At this moment they're not scoring enough and they're conceding every game."
