Instant Takeaways from the Vikings' Week 7 win over the Colts
We have some instant takeaways to share from the Vikings' Week 7 win.
The Minnesota Vikings came back from their Bye Week well rested and ready for what was expected to be a tough Indianapolis Colts team. The game started out rough as they struggled in the first half, even on the first drive, but they made adjustments and shut out the Colts in the second half.
The big star of the game was the defense, as Brian Flores had his guys creating chaos and then some. They never let Daniel Jones have time to think, and they struggled with Jonathan Taylor in the first quarter. The Vikings' offense struggled at times, especially establishing the run, but Kyler Murray made some impressive throws throughout. The offense still has some work to do, but as long as the defense plays like this, they will have plenty of time to make adjustments.
Here are our instant takeaways from the Vikings' interesting win in Week 7.
Kyler Murray has not had the easiest go of things during the start of his tenure as starter of the Minnesota Vikings. He has found small bits of rhythm here and there, but he has shown promise nonetheless. Vikings fans have to be patient; it won't be easy, but he can be what Sam Darnold was eventually. This is the best system, with the best line, and the best skill players he has been around, so it will take some adjusting.
Blake Cashman had one of the best games I have ever watched in terms of production and what he put on film. All season long he has continued to make plays and is on pace for career highs in several areas. As long as he is able to stay healthy, Cashman will not be able to be denied All-Pro recognition at season's end. On production alone, he is on pace for:
Cashman, if he comes close to those numbers, it could all set him up for a massive payday.
I was skeptical of Harrison Smith as a Hall of Famer; I shouldn't have been. The company he now has after his 40th interception is among the best safeties and defenders in the history of the game. His returning may not have made the most sense, but it is a move that is now paying dividends for the Vikings and then some.
