Tyler Herro wore enormous shorts to recreate iconic T.J. Ford photoshoot

Tyler Herro is now a member of the Milwaukee Bucks thanks to his inclusion in the Giannis Antetokounmpo deal. Once believed to be a foundational piece for the Miami Heat , Herro will get another opportunity to grow his star on the shores of Lake Michigan. Going from South Beach to Wisconsin is a quite a change but basketball fanbases are universal in that they will love you if you pour in buckets night after night. Herro, despite having his progression to a superstar slow considerably over the past few seasons, is capable of going off every single time he steps on the court.

It appears he also knows how to play the PR game, as evidenced by a savvy photoshoot that taps into some nostalgia.

Herro and former Bucks guard T.J. Ford recreated the latter's iconic rookie photoshoot that is still ubiquitous on the internet today.

Enormous shorts and all. The photos are tremendous—and so too is the buy-in from both involved parties.

This right here is such a smart move from Herro. If you can't have fun as an NBA player in late-September before there's any pressure, then when can you? These photoshoots are simply not that serious and it's clever to find a way to make them truly worthwhile.

Plus, for old heads like me, seeing Herro in the shorts we used to wear—which would greatly hinder the ability to ball-handle—sparks tremendous joy. I didn't really have any opinion about Herro before today and now it feels like he is one of us. Or at the very least, Elder Millennial coded. Nostalgia is really undefeated.

Then there's the thought Herro could be a trend-setter. It's not likely but it is possible that other NBA players are going to see how good he looks in the baggy fit and follow suit. Teams can start selling big ol' shorts for divorced dads to wear to the park or when taking the dog for a walk. There has to be money in this somewhere.

Fashion is cyclical and it's only a matter of time until the huge shorts look comes back in full force. It's better to be easy than it is to be late on any trend.
