Here's how many people watched USA-France FIBA Women's World Cup final

With Team USA being crowned the champion of the FIBA Women's World Cup for the fifth-straight tournament, the WNBA season will soon pick up.

Sunday's gold-medal matchup in Germany resulted in a 97-79 win for the U.S. over France, marking the Americans' record 12th time winning gold.

On Tuesday, TNT Sports released the total viewership figure from the final game of the tournament, setting a new record for the gold-medal matchup.

USA-France FIBA Women's World Cup final viewership

An average of 1.2 million people watched as Team USA took down France to win the tournament, TNT Sports said.

According to ESPN , that figure represented the third-highest FIBA Women's World Cup viewership on record, with the top two also coming from the 2026 tournament.

The final game peaked at 1.5 million viewers.

"It's a little bit of the planets aligning," executive vice president and chief content officer for TNT Sports Craig Barry told ESPN. "It's not just this great FIBA World Cup tournament, but women's sports coming into the spotlight the last three or four years."

The highest-rated game of the tournament was the United States' narrow win over Italy, which had an average of 1.3 million viewers, peaking at 1.7 million. The Americans ultimately won by three.

Before the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, the highest-rated tournament game was the 2022 gold-medal matchup, which pulled in an average of 446,000 viewers on ESPN.

With the tournament now complete, the WNBA season will continue on Thursday, Sept. 17.
