There are no other details about a bout that would match up the 49-year-old Mayweather, who retired from pro boxing in 2017, against the 28-year-old Garcia, the reigning WBC welterweight champion.

Mayweather also announced he'll be fighting Australian boxer Matty Floyd Dec. 19 in Bangkok. Floyd, 37, is 15-2 with 10 knockouts.

"This is a lil tune up before me and Ryan Garcia lock up…'' Mayweather's post reads.

Mayweather Jr. fights with Tyson, Pacquiao

Mayweather previously said he would fight Manny Pacquiao. He's being sued by the CSI Sports Events, the company that says it had exclusive rights to the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao and an exhibition fight between Mayweather and Mike Tyson.

Mayweather has not publicly addressed the status of bouts with Pacquiao or Tyson in months.

Judd Burstein, an attorney representing CSI Sports Events, said he had no comment about the prospective fights between Mayweather and Garcia and and Mayweather and Floyd, the Australian boxer, according to man who answered the phone at Burstein's office.

A law firm representing Mayweather did not immediately reply to a voicemail from USA TODAY Sports.

CSI Sports Events tried to block Mayweather's scheduled exhibition against Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis before the fight was canceled.

Mayweather is facing two felony counts after he allegedly wrote a bad check to purchase a luxury watch at a Las Vegas boutique. But a representative at the Clark County District Attorney's office said the matter would not keep Mayweather from boxing.

Mayweather's last pro fight was a 10-round TKO victory against Conor McGregor in August 2017.
