Florida falls out of USA TODAY Sports re-rank top 25 after Georgia loss

Florida football's Week 9 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs has the Gators tumbling out of USA TODAY Sports' re-rank top 25.

The Florida Gators ended the month of October with their third loss of the 2026 campaign — an embarrassing 27-8 defeat at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs, marking the sixth-straight loss to their cross-border rivals. Jon Sumrall's squad has no one to blame but themselves in a game plagued by boneheaded mistakes.

Following Week 9's college football schedule, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg released his latest re-ranking of all 138 FBS teams . In it, Florida fell 11 spots to No. 33 and now sits between No. 32 SMU and No. 34 James Madison.

Compare that with the US LBM Coaches Poll, which dropped the Gators from the top 25 to the de facto No. 27 spot, and the AP Top 25 , which has them teetering on the edge at No. 25.

The SEC now has eight schools in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank top 25 this week after Florida dropped out, headlined by second-ranked Georgia, along with Kentucky (No. 8) and Texas (No. 9) among the top 10. Ole Miss (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 12), Alabama (No. 13), LSU (No. 14) and Missouri (No. 19) round out the rest of the top-ranked teams, while South Carolina sits just outside the group at No. 26.

Next up, Florida returns home to host Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 7, inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
