Klopp would be first Germany coach to fail to win first three games

Jürgen Klopp would become the first Germany men's coach to fail to win in his first three games in charge if his side do not beat Serbia in Thursday's Nations League game in Munich.

The 59-year-old has so far recorded a 1-1 draw in the Netherlands and a 1-0 home defeat against Greece.

But there are good omens for Klopp given two successful predecessors - Sepp Herberger and Helmut Schön - also went their first two games winless before securing a victory in their third.

Herberger then led Germany to their first World Cup title in 1954. Schön is the only Germany men's coach to win both the European Championship (1972) and World Cup (1974).

After defeat on his home debut against Greece on Sunday, Klopp laughed off talk of negative records.

"Better a bad start than a bad ending," he said.
