It's Time For Bron Breakker to Turn Into WWE's Monster Heel
Bron Breakker made a point to not use the Steiner name in order to stand out on his own, but so far, he's nearly completely failed to separate himself from the pack of WWE talent on the roster around him.

This feels cliche on first pass, no doubt. "Just go heel" is a really common solution onlookers come up with while trying to suggest changes for lagging wrestlers.

There's storyline and character justification in droves. Everyone knows how Breakker got passed up by Oba Femi, who is now on the fast path to a WrestleMania date with Roman Reigns. Breaker got hurt, but even if he hadn't, Femi probably would've lapped him. That's a wrestler who stands out.
And the lowlights just keep coming from Breakker. At least one outlet, False Finish , has reported that Breakker was originally scheduled to win the Money in the Bank briefcase in the men's match before WWE gave it to Penta instead.
So, two distinct, super-hot-with-crowd stars have leapfrogged Breakker in a small amount of time. It's made worse by a new report, too. According to Self Made Pro (h/t Cain A. Knight of Cageside Seats), CM Punk likes Breakker and will eventually put him over in a match.
There's the rub: This isn't going to stop happening. In his current state, Breakker will just keep getting passed up. He tried to shake the weird nepo-accusations via his family name. He became something of a community project where fans were cheering on his promo improvement by the week while just waiting for him to become that preordained next big thing. He's had Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins and others working with him.
And it's not working. But Breakker is one of the few wrestlers better positioned to actually feel like a monster heel. Unlike most of the roster, he can pull it off. Let him shred through some lovable good guys and stand toe-to-toe with the big guys in time. Let him fight dirty, backstage attacks, all that stuff.
Slap a small railing against "the man" gimmick on it in the process. Forget the nepo accusations, he's clearly being held back by the corporate suits who don't want him as the face of the company. He's not supposed to win, so he's going to break free of the shackles by force.
Nobody's saying slap on some jorts and start downing beers, but make Breakker more relatable.
Very small sidebar here, but Bron Breakker is a rough name, by the way. Hard to fault any fan who casts a side eye at it and thinks it sounds like an automated create-a-wrestler name from a video game. Maybe he can lash out about that in a storyline and character development while just becoming "Bron" or something.
Anyway, shifting Breakker from the obvious next-big-thing to an underdog would have plenty of character justification at this point. The roster lacks those mega-heels right now. Gunther is nowhere to be found and Drew McIntyre has become a tad stagnant. Femi is going to need that long-term foil, and over the years, they can swap good and bad guy roles when needed.
But right now? Breakker feels like he's stuck in neutral. But he's very painfully got the potential to break free of the pack and really grab that brass ring everyone thinks is hanging above him.
It helps that WWE feels willing to take some risks right now. We've seen some really creative presentation decisions over the last few years, even with new camera angles and backstage shots of stuff. The faction war with the Bloodline and 946 is a good example right now. Bringing some innovation that's unique to Breakker's chaos he spreads across all brands while lashing out could be really fun and get fans invested.
It just, frankly, doesn't need to be this difficult. Breakker in his current state is like the other Bron blowing an uncontested layup. Getting him on the fast track to that obvious main-event, long-term upside is not this hard to figure out.
But it starts with embracing the current status quo and letting Breakker shed it. Otherwise, he's going to be stuck in this state for a long time and be a staple of what if? lists instead of all-time-great lists.
