Washington football exploring extra year of eligibility for injured WR

After suffering an injury on Washington's first play of the season, the Huskies are looking to get Christian Moss another year of eligibility.

Wide receiver Christian Moss' 2026 season has been full of bad luck since transferring to the Washington Huskies .

First, the former Kennesaw State standout suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the majority of spring practice. Then, following a strong fall camp, the 6-foot-3 pass catcher suffered a quad injury that forced him to have surgery and, in all likelihood, will end his season.

After the NCAA passed a 5-for-5 eligibility rule over the summer, the injuries could spell an end to his college football career, but Jedd Fisch's coaching staff is exploring a medical exemption to regain his lost year.

"We are working on Christian Moss to see if we can regain a year for him, as it looks as if he will have one play in his final year of college if we're not capable to regain that year for him," Fisch said during his Monday press conference.

If the Huskies are able to regain that year, Moss displayed the skill set of a promising threat from the X receiver spot who can stretch the field and thrives in contested catch scenarios throughout fall camp.

"I think Christian's a dude. He's a dude," Fisch said of Moss during fall camp . "He's made a lot of big-time plays throughout. Got to make them all, but no one makes them all. I'm loving how he's doing. He's taken every rep with the first offense at X, and he's earned that right. He's just somebody that's put himself in position that he's going to be pretty special, I think."
