Before becoming head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Todd Monken was on the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff . He served as Baltimore's offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2025, where he worked with ultra-talented quarterback Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Monken is now planning how to beat his former team, with the Browns and the Ravens set to meet this Sunday in Cleveland.
Monken Praises Huntley Ahead of Week 6 Browns-Ravens Clash
With Jackson in danger of missing another game due to an injury, Huntley looks poised to get another start under center for Baltimore, which is coming off a thrilling 30-23 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 5.
Monken gave Huntley his flowers ahead of the game.
"Very confident player. He has a belief in himself to make plays, and he's really a gamer," Monken said of Huntley when asked about why the quarterback has been a great fit alongside Jackson (h/t Irie Harris of Cleveland.com) .
"I know it sounds really overused, but the moment never gets too big for him. He loves to play football, and he gets in the game and he's able to make plays with his arms and his legs, and he gets rid of the ball and knows where to get the ball out when under duress," added Monken, who clearly watched Huntley help Baltimore win against the Falcons.
"And he works awfully hard. He's very diligent in preparing as the backup. So, when his time is called, he's able to play at a high level."
Huntley led the Ravens to two touchdown-scoring drives late in the fourth quarter and in overtime. He finished with 201 passing yards and two touchdowns on 24/32 pass completions. He added 20 rushing yards and a touchdown on six carries for Baltimore, which improved to 4-1.
