Exeter City boss Matt Taylor says his side still has to improve their attacking output, despite their defensive strength.

The Grecians have conceded just six goals in their opening 10 games in League Two - the joint-best record in the division with Walsall.

It is also Exeter's second-best defensive record after 10 games in their history - one off the 1973-74 season and the 1986-87 campaign.

But the Grecians, who have won their past two games 1-0, have scored just six times in those 10 games - the third-worst record in the division.

"We're pleased with that 10-game split defensively, but we've still got to add so much more at the other end of the pitch," Taylor told BBC Radio Devon.

"We can't just say we've had a great 10 games in terms of our defensive output, and it's not just the defenders, it's not just the goalkeeper, it is every single one.

"Josh Gordon is our best defender because he's our first defender, then there was [George] Birch at the weekend and Anthony Scully and Taylor Perry, they are our best defenders because they're the first defenders.

"They protect the back line so much in terms of the way they play. So I'm delighted we've conceded six in 10, I still want the next 10 games to look like that in terms of a low return for opposition goals against us.

"But also we've got to find a way of scoring more than six goals ourselves and if we can improve that while keeping our defensive solidity, structure, desire and ultimately output, then we'll be a far better team."
