Bridge Day 5K returns for 2026

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WVNS) -Bridge Day is less than a month away and that means the Bridge Day 5K is coming up as well.

Hosted by Active Southern West Virginia, the Bridge Day 5K gives racers the chance to run across the iconic New River Gorge Bridge.

Active Southern West Virginia Development Director, Jenni Canterbury said this race is an important event for them.

"Events like the Bridge Day 5K help Active SWV to offer free programming, our community captain led programming that is offered free in all of our communities. Everything from walking groups, biking groups, hiking groups, group exercise classes. We're able to do that because of our races," said Canterbury.

The minimum age to enter the race is 8 and there are only 600 spots available, so if you are interested, it's best to sign up as soon as possible.

The race will be on Bridge Day, October 17th, 2026. Line up starts at 8:30 a.m. and the race officially starts at 8:45 a.m.
