Scottie Scheffler just won $10 million at the Tour Championship, so why was he craving a cheeseburger?

Scottie Scheffler ended his 2026 PGA Tour season with a $10 million Tour Championship win, but his first thought after the big payday was surprisingly simple. The world No. 1 said he wanted a cheeseburger, fries and maybe a milkshake. He also grabbed a rare beer after finishing at 16-under at East Lake in Atlanta. He nearly made an ace on the second hole and caught Hovland with a birdie on the fourth. He then pulled away late, closing with a 4-under 66 to finish three shots ahead of Hovland.The PGA Tour said Scheffler finished the tournament at 16-under 264. Hovland was second at 13-under, while Ryan Gerard finished third at 12-under. Scheffler collected the $10 million first prize from the $40 million Tour Championship purse.After the win, reporters asked Scheffler what he planned to do first. His answer had little to do with the size of his prize.“Gosh, I don’t know. Probably a cheeseburger. I’m a big cheeseburger guy. Cheeseburger, fries… maybe a milkshake if they got one hiding back there,” Scheffler said, according to The New York Post.That was not the only small celebration Scheffler had in mind. He wanted to get inside for some air conditioning and had a few minutes before more media work.“There was an open bar inside and I’m like, ‘All right, I’m grabbing a beer.’ It tasted great,” Scheffler said, according to the Associated Press.His wife, Meredith, and his manager were surprised because they rarely see him drink.“Yeah, it’s fun. I don’t really drink very often. My wife and my manager were like, ‘Wow, I haven’t seen you have a beer in a long time.’ And it’s like, ‘Yeah, well, season’s over now. I’m going to have a beer. Well-earned beer,’” Scheffler said.Scheffler can now take some time away from competition with Meredith and their two sons, Bennett and Remy. His next major team event is the Presidents Cup at Medinah, which begins Sept. 22.The victory also changed the PGA Tour’s career earnings record. Scheffler now has $130,390,661 in official PGA Tour earnings, moving past Woods’ $120,999,166.
