Craig Luschenat on what player enhancement means to Boston Celtics
"I would just say it's our job to basically put a plan in place for each guy," said the Celtics assistant.
Craig Luschenat has made a name for himself with the Boston Celtics as one of the NBA's best player development coaches (or as they call such a position in the Celtics organization, a player enhancement coach). But much as Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla tends to do, Luschenat refuses to take sole credit for the successes we have seen with Boston in such an ambit, instead crediting the full bench of Boston assistants for any evident enhancements.
As to the meaning behind using "player enhancement" instead of "player development," the Celtics assistant related that he does not "have a definition, that's for sure" in a recent interview with the team-produced "View From the Rafters" podcast.
"I would just say it's our job to basically put a plan in place for each guy and then just try and execute that plan," added Luschenat.
"I think we put big emphasis on how we can develop our guys," said the Celtics assistant. "We look at our guys from every different lens, from mental performance, strength, and conditioning (to) what the analytics say, what the film says, what the nutrition says."
"And then we essentially try to put a plan in place and try and execute it. So … it's been a good few years here, but we don't have all the answers, and we're still trying to get better."
