Deion Sanders Effect helps Georgia Tech football reach achievement for first time in 20 years

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off their best season in over a decade. That, combined with Deion Sanders coming to town has them about to do something they haven't done in two decades: play their home opener in front of a sold out crowd.

According to the school , it's their first season opening sellout since Brady Quinn and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came to town in 2006. Notre Dame won that game 14-10 . Calvin Johnson caught seven passes for 111 yards and scored the Yellow Jackets' only touchdown that day. It was so long ago that a senior tight end named Marcus Freeman caught a pass for the Irish.

It is also Georgia Tech's third straight sellout. They also filled the 52,113 seat Bobby Dowd Stadium in the final two games last season. It's the first time the school has had three straight sellouts since 2002.
