Anthony Edwards seems fired up about the Wolves' Jonathan Kuminga addition

Jonathan Kuminga , the newest member of the Timberwolves , arrived in Minnesota for the first time on Tuesday, a couple weeks after spurning the Lakers and other teams to become the starting power forward the Wolves spent much of this offseason seeking.

According to multiple reports, including from Timberwolves insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Anthony Edwards was a big part of an organization-wide recruiting pitch that resulted in Kuminga choosing Minnesota. Edwards expressed his belief in the soon-to-be 24-year-old, who has been a bit of a polarizing figure during his time in the NBA so far. Ant also focused on selling Kuminga on what he could bring to the Wolves on the defensive end of the floor.

That context feels important when watching a new clip shared by the Timberwolves on Tuesday during Kuminga's first day in Minnesota. Edwards came to greet his new teammate with a trademark smile on his face.

"Y'all see what's going on," Edwards said. "This s*** over with, man. Wrap this s*** up."

In other words, Ant seems pretty confident in the Wolves' ceiling with Kuminga joining himself, LaMelo Ball , Jaden McDaniels , Rudy Gobert , Ayo Dosunmu , and the rest of a very intriguing roster that underwent a major offseason makeover.

The ultra-athletic, 6'7″ Kuminga has a chance to be a perfect fit for the Wolves as the final piece of their starting lineup puzzle. In order for that to be the case, he'll need to buy into his role . While playing with Edwards, Ball, and McDaniels, Kuminga can't expect to be a featured scorer who is going to play in isolation. He needs to focus on defense, rebounding, transition offensive, and connective passing.

The early indications are that Kuminga realizes as much . But we won't truly know how willing he is to embrace the dirty work until the games actually begin.

Kuminga will be introduced by the Timberwolves at a formal press conference on Thursday, according to reports. Those are sometimes reserved for more high-profile additions like Ball, but this could be viewed as another step in the Wolves making Kuminga feel valued after going all-out in recruiting him.
