Denver Broncos have waived/injured linebacker Drew Sanders

According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos have waived/injured linebacker Drew Sanders today.

Sanders was selected by the Broncos in the third round (67th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. In his last season in college, he led the team with 103 tackles and 9.5 sacks and earned All-America honors. In the NFL he has played 21 games with four starts, recording 32 tackles and one sack.

Head Coach Sean Payton had an idea of where he felt Sanders could succeed back in April when it was revealed he would make the switch to edge rusher.

"He's doing well out here playing an edge position. He's instinctive. He's at one of those positions where it's hard to evaluate with what we're doing right now. He can get the alignment, the assignment, all of that. There's a young player that, knock on wood, we feel like is really talented," stated Payton.

However, the story with Drew Sanders throughout his NFL career has been one marred by injury. He struggled to stay on the practice field and in preseason games. Could this be the end of his time in Denver?
