The Eagles' season has been falling apart for weeks. Now they're making a change at the most important position on the field, just two days after saying they wouldn't.

Philadelphia is turning to its third starting quarterback of the season. And it's a player who was on another team's practice squad less than a month ago.

Amidst a six-game losing streak, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Joe Milton will start for the Eagles against the Giants on Sunday. He'll replace Tanner McKee, who started the last three games.

That's a sharp reversal from what Nick Sirianni said on Monday. When asked if a change at quarterback was on the table, the Eagles coach was clear.

"Again, you know, Tanner's our guy. We're not making any changes there," Sirianni said, in his Monday press conference . "And you know, again, how do we find solutions? That could be within scheme, you know, that could be within how we, you know, our schedule is, practice plays, right? And so everything's on the table for us in that aspect."

Apparently, everything included the quarterback.

McKee completed 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in his three starts, according to ESPN. The Eagles lost all three.

The Eagles signed Milton off the Cowboys' practice squad on Oct. 16. He spent last season as Dak Prescott's backup in Dallas after being traded there by the Patriots, who drafted him in the sixth round in 2024.

On Wednesday, before the news broke, Sirianni praised Milton's work ethic. "He works extremely hard. You know, he is, he's always in the building, doing the extra things, and yeah, I like his progression," Sirianni said .

The quarterback carousel started when Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve in October after doctors found multiple blood clots in both of his lungs. Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The situation drew widespread backlash after it was revealed Hurts still played after being hospitalized . The NFL was reportedly "furious" with the Eagles over how it was handled.

Things haven't gotten any better on the field. After a 2-0 start, the Eagles have dropped six straight and sit last in the NFC East at 2-6.

After Sunday night's 27-10 loss to the Commanders, Sirianni put the blame on himself , saying, "I'm not doing a good enough job right now."
