La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruña have this week been dealt a blow on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation of attacking star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being primed for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

Veteran frontman Aubameyang of course took his talents to Spain this past summer, linking up with newly-promoted Deportivo in a cut-price transfer.

The Gabonese has since gone on to enjoy a stellar start to life in the colours of Depor, with seven goal contributions in seven appearances to date.

The latest news surrounding Aubameyang's fitness will in turn come as a blow to all associated with the Branquiazuis. As per a statement across the club's website and social media platforms on Wednesday:

'Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be operated on this Thursday, September 24, under the care of traumatologist Manuel Leyes at the Olympia Center in Madrid to resolve the discomfort of his external meniscus that he suffered during the match against Betis . His evolution will mark his return to group training.'
