6 Bold Predictions for Auburn's Week 2 Matchup With Southern Miss
Auburn football hosts Southern Miss in Week 2 as Alex Golesh looks to start 2-0. Auburn Daily staff make bold predictions for Jeremiah Koger, Keshaun Singlet...
It's another big week for the Auburn Tigers as they look to move to 2-0 on the season.
After a gutsy win in Atlanta against the Baylor Bears to open up the Alex Golesh era, the team will head to Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time as they take on Southern Miss .
This week, we partnered with Auburn Daily and asked their staff for some bold predictions.
Brad Law, play-by-play announcer, Auburn Sports Network, Auburn Daily
"I'll go defense this week. My bold prediction is Xavier Atkins gets a pick-six .
We saw a very active week from the linebackers last week. And Southern Miss didn't really have to throw the ball a whole lot in their opener against Alcorn State . Auburn's gonna stop the run, force them to throw the ball, and force their quarterback into some mistakes.
And Xavier is such an active linebacker. Give me a show blitz and then drop back, step into a passing lane. Green grass, open field ahead of him for a pick-six."
"My bowl prediction for the game Saturday will be that Auburn's running game will take off, and they will rush for 300 yards with a combination of Omar Mabson, Byrum Brown , Bryson Washington , and Jeremiah Cobb . 300 yards on the ground.
Saturday, they will explode against Southern Miss, and the offensive line will get some push."
Zac Blackerby, Auburn Roundtable, Locked on Auburn, Auburn Daily
"My bold prediction, Jeremiah Koger explodes like a bomb on offense. I'm talking about a touchdown reception of 40+ yards. I'm talking about multiple first downs.
I think Jeremiah Koger absolutely erupts. Hundred-plus yards. I'll give him two touchdowns. It's a Jeremiah Koger game on Saturday."
"My bold prediction is that Southern Miss should have to punt more in this game than Baylor did in the last game.
And I'm predicting the return touchdown. Christian Neptune or Bryce Cain, doesn't matter. Punt return touchdown on Saturday."
" Keshaun Singleton is gonna have a massive day.
But not just Keshaun. I think all the wide receivers are gonna have a massive day. I think he's gonna go for over 100 yards, maybe even close to 150, and go for two touchdowns.
But I think overall the receivers are gonna have a massive day."
Christian Rauh, Auburn Roundtable, Auburn Daily
Give me Cody Sigler with two either sacks or tackles for a loss in the backfield. And he will cause a turnover, whether that's an interception, a strip sack, or a fumble.
