Ex-Dolphins DT Raekwon Davis arrested in Harris Co. after dispute over truck key

Former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Raekwon Davis was arrested in Harris County after court records say a dispute over a replacement truck key allegedly ended with him choking a man and pointing a gun at him.

Davis, 29, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 338th District Court.

Davis was a second-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama. After four seasons in South Beach, Davis jumped to the AFC South where he played for the Indianapolis Colts , Davis did not play in 2025 and has registered two career sacks across 80 career games and 48 starts.

Arrest paperwork said the entire incident began when the owner of a mobile vehicle detailing business told investigators one of his employees cleaned Davis' white Ford F-350 at Davis' Cypress home on August 29 and accidentally left the key inside a work van.

The victim told investigators he hired an Uber courier to bring the key back to Davis because he was working another job and was not near Davis. The courier dropped the key at a white truck, but court documents say Davis later texted the victim asking where the key was.

The victim then hired a locksmith to replace the key. Court documents say the victim and locksmith arrived at Davis' home around 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30, and the locksmith began working on the truck while the victim and Davis talked.

That is where the court record gets oddly specific.

"The locksmith began having issues with programming the key fob which caused the truck to not start," court documents said. "The locksmith exclaimed 'man f***!,' at which time [the victim] turned to Defendant and observed Defendant charging at [the victim] with both arms outstretched."

The victim told investigators Davis hit his chest "at force," backed him into a fence and caused him pain. Davis then allegedly pushed him to the ground, got on top of him and started choking him, according to the complaint.

"[The victim] advised that it was hard to [breathe] and he could barely speak while Defendant was squeezing his throat," the complaint states.

The complaint then says Davis then allegedly called out to someone living with him to get his gun. That person gave Davis a handgun, which the victim described as a "black glock," according to court records.

The victim told investigators Davis pointed the handgun at the locksmith and told him to "look away or keep working." Davis then allegedly moved the handgun back toward the victim, who interpreted it as a direct threat against his life, according to the complaint.

The victim said he was able to "successfully 'bucked' Defendant off of him," though he told investigators he was not sure if Davis was about to pistol-whip him or continue holding him at gunpoint, according to the arrest affidavit.

A Harris County magistrate found probable cause had previously been determined. A felony bail order filed Sept. 4 shows bail was temporarily denied pending a hearing, with personal bond marked "not eligible."
