Yankees expected to make Brian Cashman job decision that should not be a surprise

As the 2026 season winds down, plenty of manager and front office positions are going to open around the league. Some are already open, and teams are looking to make some new hires.

But what about the New York Yankees ? They would obviously keep their power structure intact if they win the World Series, but in general, regardless of the season outcome, what are the Yankees most likely to do?

According to MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com , the Yankees are expected to keep Brian Cashman, along with Aaron Boone, as both of their jobs are seemingly very safe regardless of the outcome of the 2026 Yankees season.

"But both Cashman and Boone have done a very good job in New York. Cashman is a surefire Hall of Fame executive," Murray writes. "... I firmly expect both to remain with the Yankees beyond the 2026 season. They do not feel like they are in any danger of being let go."

The Yankees are currently contending for the AL East title, though the Tampa Bay Rays have a solid lead that, unless Aaron Judge returns from injury, might be too difficult to catch up to.

Cashman received some flak for bringing back a lot of their players this offseason, with the Trent Grisham qualifying offer decision also not being well received.

The same went for the trade deadline, as Cashman didn't exactly receive resounding praise for his addition of Heliot Ramos, and the lack of some extra bullpen help or a new catcher.

But the re-signing of Cody Bellinger, the trade for Ryan Weathers, and the trade for Luis Garcia Jr. at the MLB trade deadline were all great moves that have helped and will help the Yankees this season.

While there might be some Yankees fans frustrated with Cashman's roster construction, Murray wholeheartedly believes that Cashman isn't going to be leaving the Yankees now, or anytime soon.

Sure, he might've made some mistakes over the offseason, but every executive and general manager in every professional sports league does. Cashman has made mistakes, but he's more than made up for it with high-quality moves during his tenure.

Neither Cashman nor Boone is expected to be let go at the end of the season, according to Murray. This shouldn't surprise any Yankees fans, as Cashman is practically locked in as long as he wants the job.
